| Vanessa -Vocals
Started performing in bands at the age of 13, playing various instruments in several different bands. Vanessa ended up as lead vocals for Rescue 201 (2001-2003). Vanessa states, “I learned how to sing from my mother, who had been paid to lead church choirs and what not, and her friends who are also in bands” . Aside from her obvious vocal ability, Vanessa is also a professionally trained percussionist.
Joe Ploy -Guitar/backing vocals
Former front man and founder of The Ploys (1998-02), where he shared the stage with bands such as Dropkick Murphy’s, Oxymoron and DRI. Past bands include: Unforgiven, The Generix , Flaccid, and Bob Goes to Washington. Joe spent the summer of ‘99 touring The U.S. as a roadie with the LES Stitches. From 1998-2002 Joe taught guitar lessons and did guitar repair at Rocktec music in NJ. Joe graduated from The Institute of Audio Research in 2001, where he studied with such industry giants as Rich Termini (Cindy Lauper), Vin Leary (Jimi Hendrix and The Fugz), and Rich Blakin (Bob Dylan, James Brown). Joe went onto work for Crest Audio, repairing and manufacturing high end sound consoles. Joe has been behind the mixing boards for Lenny Kravitz and Dave Mathews Band during their appearances at SNL. Joe is also the former resident sound tech at the Hamilton St. Café in Bound Brook, NJ where he’s done sound for bands such as The Break, Ensign, Big Wig and Mad Cap. Recently Joe recorded with and co produced Blue 82 for an upcoming release.
Paul Kartanowicz -Drums
Received his BA in Music from Rutgers University, where he studied percussion with Newman Taylor Baker (Billy Harper Quintet) and Latin Percussion legend Steve Berrios, and Jazz performance with Leo Johnson and Dr. William R. Bauer. Former drummer for a slew of NJ/NY bands including The Bristles, Sector 12, Tir Na Nog and 1987. Paul also uses his skills as a “first call” studio and sub drummer for such diverse projects ranging from Rockabilly to Bebop. A list of studio projects include: Blue 82, Isotope, Crash Gordon, and most recently is featured on The Tombstone Brawlers debut CD on Tombstone Records along with Chuck McCann, vocalist for Los Gatos Locos. Paul is also a highly regarded percussion educator in the NYC metro area. With a list of performances on the metropolitan club circuit and an east coast tour in 2001 with The Bristles, Paul is set to tame the wild rock'n'roll beat with the Bitter Hearts.
Chip McMahon -Bass
Ex-Bristles bassist (96-01) and Broken Heroes founding member and bassist (89-93). Chip has also proven himself a diverse musician, performing in bands ranging from Oi!, to Psychobilly, and even Industrial. Past bands include: Crank (98-99), Splatterhead (2000 - Including members of The Klingonz, Los Gatos Locos, and The Tombstone Brawlers), and Tir-Na-Nog (01-02). Chip released two 7"s with Broken Heroes on Headache records and a split 7" with The Bristles/U.S. Bombs. Chip played on The Bristles third full length release, “Tattooed & Rotten” (2000- Beer City Records), and appeared on a variety of compilations with the Bristles and Broken Heroes. Chip has toured America with The Bristles and Broken Heroes, including an appearance at the DC Oi fest in 1993, which gained national media coverage. Chip recently made his acting debut in “Campfire Stories” (Velocity Home Entertainment 2001) starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos), David Johansen (New York Dolls), and The Misfits.
